ANNUAL GENERAL MEETING & TRUSTEE ELECTION:
Monday May 5th, 2025
The GID is seeking two 3-year term trustees for 2025 to 2028.
Candidates are listed below in alphabetical order:
MARK BROWN – Nominated for a 3-Year Term 2025 to 2028
My wife and I have been living in Genelle for 14 years after spending many years in Calgary. We had been visiting the area for over 20 years before deciding to retire here to be near family. When we decided to move, we were always attracted to Genelle as it has a more open country feeling than what one would find in a town or city.
I am a Chartered Professional Accountant and worked at the Canada Revenue Agency for 32 years in the Audit Division mostly in Electronic Commerce Audit support finishing my career as a Regional Electronic Commerce Advisor.
Since moving here, I have served for 6 years (2013 to 2018) on the Board of Directors of the Birchbank Golf Club as chair of the Finance Committee and also Treasurer.
We can see many changes in the population of Genelle as many young families have chosen it as home and are renovating their houses and gardens. I am running as a trustee for the Genelle Improvement District to contribute to the community by ensuring that our water system is financially viable for the foreseeable and long-term future by considering future capital requirements that are needed for long term capital budgeting.
Come out to vote on Monday May 5, 2025 at the GID office from 11:00AM to 5:30 PM and also at the Annual General Meeting, 6:00PM at the GID Office, 611 16th Ave.
- Mark Brown, CPA, CMA
KEVIN ROGERS - Nominated for a 3-Year Term 2025 to 2028
I was born and raised in Genelle, and I am seeking another 3-year term with the Genelle Improvement District. I have been on the board for 9 years and have been a part of many other accomplishments for the community, such as my instrumental work on creating the splash park. I have volunteered as a firefighter for the Genelle Fire Hall in the past, and believe that keeping organizations local to Genelle is important. I am very community minded and listen to the people in this wonderful community. My main goal has been to provide affordable water for everyone in this community. Our system is in a great state at this time, and so are our financials. I look forward to serving and working with you all for another 3-year term. Thank you for your support!

RAE WALKER - Nominated for a 3-Year Term 2025 to 2028
I have been a Genelle resident/homeowner for 21 years, and am honoured to have served as GID trustee for 15 of those, during which time I participated in the acquisition of an expanded right-of-way on private land to complete construction of our new reservoir, including securing construction grant monies, as well as restoration of our original reservoir for continued use, upgrading of our SCADA controls system, replacement of two of our three well motors/components, and overseeing the activities of our part-time water operator and administrator. We are fortunate in Genelle to have access to clean, untreated water, delivered through a solid infrastructure without the requirement for significant costly upgrades beyond ongoing maintenance and repairs, toward which your board of trustees maintains a strong financial position. My interest has and continues to be to keep our water services within our community, providing safe, reliable and affordable water to all ratepayers.
