Notice of Water System Flushing

Due to the gradual increase in Coliform counts in the Genelle water system this month, the Interior Health Officer has ordered that the GID chlorinate the system for 2 weeks.  The chlorine flush will begin on Tuesday, Sept. 3rd.

The counts reported are not high enough for a boil water advisory so it is still safe to drink the water; this flush is simply a precautionary measure to avoid further growth of a suspected biofilm.  We ask that during the flush all residents refrain from sprinkling their lawns, to help increase the contact time of the chlorine. The GID board of trustees & water operator are working closely with Interior Health to prioritize water quality in our community.  For more information on how to neutralize chlorine please visit our FAQ: https://genelleimprovementdistrict.myruralwater.com/faq
